With just four ingredients, this clean and nutritious protein packed, blueberry banana shake is full of blueberries, protein, and the creamy sweetness of banana. Delicious, easy, and filling, it is sure to keep you feeling full for hours.

I am not a big breakfast person especially on weekdays. So, making a shake or a smoothie is my go to. My blueberry banana protein shake has only four ingredients and is so easy to make, especially on a busy morning. This shake is one of my absolute favorites. It is nutritious, full of flavor and a delicious way to start the day.
It is great for on the go too. If you are in a hurry, you can make it and add it to a travel cup to drink in the car or when you get to work or school
Not only does this shake make a healthy and filling breakfast, it is a pretty nutritious snack. I often have it in the afternoon to tide me over until dinner.

Ingredients
Milk- I use Fairlife milk because it is ultra filtered and I have a slight diary allergy and this brand of milk is easier on my stomach. It has 13 grams of protein where most brands of milk have just about eight grams of protein.
Frozen banana- Bananas add a sweet taste and creamy texture to this shake. When freezing bananas, make sure they are not too ripe. The over ripeness flavor from the banana will over power the taste of your shake. I learned that one the hard way.
Frozen blueberries- Blueberries are part of the reasons this shake is so healthy. They are full of antioxidants and one cup has 24% of the daily requirement for vitamin c. Can we talk about the color. I love the way the blueberries turn this shake into such a vibrant and fun purple.
Vanilla protein powder– adds extra protein and helps you keep full. I use just one scoop of protein powder because adding two scoops makes it too sweet for my taste, especially with the banana. Also, with the brand of milk I use, it would be protein overload for me.
Toppings
As a special touch, I add whipped cream. This Fall, there is a new pumpkin spice whipped cream and I would highly recommend trying it. It adds a dash of Fall flavor to this healthy shake.
You can also drizzle some chocolate or blueberry syrup on top.
Try a dollop of blueberry jam it adds extra blueberry flavor.
To add a crunch, I sprinkle some granola, walnuts, or pecans on top.
Chocolate chips are good too.
Sprinkle it with love! I have used chocolate and rainbow. sprinkles, I love the pop of color the rainbow sprinkles add. Who says healthy can’t be fun?

How To Make The Shake
Start by putting a cup of milk into the blender.

Then measure out one cup of frozen blueberries and add them to the blender.
Next, chunk in one frozen banana.
Finally, add one scoop of the vanilla protein powder and blend it on up until you reach your desired consistency
For the finishing touch, pour the mixture into a glass and top it off with some whipped cream or other topping.
Tips and Tricks
I recommend using frozen fruit for this recipe. Otherwise, your shake will be warm. If you add ice it will make the shake watery and change the texture. It may not be as thick and creamy as you want it to be.
If you what to up the nutrition factor, throw in some healthy greens. A handful of spinach or kale will add fiber without changing the flavor. Adding greens will change the color of the shake but they blend in nicely and won’t change the texture.
How Can I Make This Vegan and Dairy Free?
To make this vegan and dairy free, just use a plant based protein powder and swap out the milk for any non dairy milk you like. There are lots of options. Almond, oat, and cashew are all delicious.
Is This Shake Gluten Free?
Yes, this shake is gluten free but if you use a different brand of protein powder, you will need to make sure it is gluten free.
